About Tíðafar

The Passage of Time

Tíðafar is an Old Norse word that means the passing of time.
In modern Icelandic, it’s also sometimes used in weather reports – describing how the weather shifts over time.
Just like life. It changes. It storms. It calms. Sometimes quickly and unpredictable.
And along the way, we are shaped – by light and darkness, by what we face, and by what we carry with us.

Tíðafar is a ten-chapter musical project – a body of work born from experience, restlessness, reflection, and wonder.
Most of the lyrics were written over the past ten years, in the midst of both personal and political chaos.
Looking back now, it’s striking how relevant many of them still feel – perhaps even more so today.

It all began with a dream.
I wrote the poem Down by the Stream and was challenged by a musician to turn it into lyrics for his band.
The band broke up – but I kept writing.
Suddenly, I was holding two full collections: Work in Progress and Under Construction.
I sent them to artists, hoping for collaboration – but quickly realized that most artists are already busy telling their own story.
Mine was left behind.
Forgotten. And I felt a little embarrassed.

It wasn’t until I got help from AI that the lyrics found new life.
They became songs. And the sound hit something in me.
Raw. Honest. Painful. But also hopeful.
And I decided to share them.

Tíðafar spans many genres – from americana, hard rock, nu metal and industrial weight, to folk, hip hop, acoustic ballads, country, and cinematic soundscapes.
The lyrics hold it all: from shame, rage, and self-destruction – to connection, love, and transformation.

Each release is a chapter in a larger story.
From Work in Progress to Dreams Aligned – a thematic and emotional arc:
From dreaming alone, to daring to dream together.

“When dreams align, we can turn dust to gold.”

Tíðafar is not an autobiography.
It’s a collection of reflections and lived experience gathered over a long period of time.
Maybe a signpost. Or a weather report for the soul.
Because life is unpredictable.

A testament that we are all – for better or worse –
still under construction.
